Moldova faces significant socio-economic challenges, with many children living in poverty or without parental care due to labour migration. Violence against children and discrimination against marginalised groups remain widespread, while youth offending is a concern.
In this context, Terre des hommes has been active in Moldova since 2004, working to ensure that all children benefit from a system that guarantees their protection, development, and participation in social, educational, cultural, and health processes.
Our impact in 2025
When support makes the difference

"When you are alone with two children in a foreign country, people like the Terre des hommes team are like a lighthouse. In their eyes, I sometimes saw myself as stronger than I felt,"
shares Victoria, a mother of two from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in Ukraine, who fled the war and found safety in Moldova.
From the very first days in Moldova, the family was supported by the multidisciplinary mobile teams of Terre des hommes Moldova. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine and the arrival of refugees, these teams – composed of a social worker, a psychologist and facilitators – have been reaching communities hosting refugees to provide psychosocial support, protection and practical assistance directly where vulnerable families live.
