LocalLink Hub is the partnership and localisation platform of Terre des hommes. The platform aims to strengthen local organisations, local government and institutions to better serve the needs of local people.
Our impact
What is localisation?
Localisation means a shift in power dynamics between actors in both humanitarian and development contexts. It means empowerment for people affected by crises. Aid is still currently designed for short term responses that are not conducive to forging efficient and long-lasting partnerships. This eventually impairs the sustainability of programmes in place and can create disempowerment of people and social structures and dependency in countries of intervention.
Terre des hommes defines localisation as a process of recognising and strengthening the leadership as well as the capacity of local and national authorities and civil society in humanitarian and development action, to protect and fulfil the rights of crisis-affected people and to strengthen the preparation of local and national actors for future responses.
How we strengthen our partners?
Original courses
LocalLink Hub offers free e-learning courses to local organisations and to all humanitarian and development workers across the world. A variety of trainings that are focused on the needs of local and national NGOs are available on the platform:
- Institutional fundraising
- Building strong communication: a guide for local NGOs
- Complaints and feedback response mechanisms at Terre des hommes
- Environmental sustainability in aid organisations and many other.
"Taking the course has enhanced my skills and deepened my knowledge of effective fundraising approaches and strategies. Also, this knowledge will be useful in building the capacity of other staff, that will support the fundraising drive through knowledge transfer, thus contributing to WRAHP’s mission," shared Oluwasegun Babalola, Senior Programme Officer, Women's Rights and Health Project (WRAHP), Nigeria.
