In the Czech Republic Tdh cooperates with the Organization for Aid to Refugees - in the framework of the Mario project - to advocate for the better protection of migrant children. "OPU" - established in 1991 - is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. The mission is to assist immigrants, above all asylum seekers who request asylum in the Czech Republic due to a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, as well as recognized refugees and persons under the temporary protection regime. To achieve this, OPU employs professional, experienced and friendly staff whose main goal is to provide effective help. OPU organizes educational activities for the general public and experts in the field of prevention of racism and xenophobia. They support human rights and volunteering and are involved in projects of international development cooperation. The staff regularly visits asylum centers and detention centers to help asylum seekers solve their legal problems among others. They also organize free-time activities for asylum seekers living in asylum centers.
