Vacancy: Communication Officer

Terre des hommes is looking for a Communication Officer to join its team in Romania and Moldova. The successful candidate speaks English and Romanian fluently.

Duty Station: Bucharest or Chisinau, with occasional travel to project communities.

Working time: full time (40 hours)

Reporting to: Country Representative Romania, Country Director Moldova, and functionally to the Regional Communication Advisor

Start date: October 2017

Knowledge, Attitude and Experience Required

  • At least 3 years of experience in communication, public relations, journalism.
  • Experience in coordinating and providing support for communication at national level.
  • Ability to lobby, communicate and build coalitions with various stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in editing external publications, managing websites and social media accounts.
  • Ability to work in a team in a consensual manner and to encourage full participation.
  • Ability to multi-task, handle pressure, work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 100% fluency required in both English and Romanian: spelling, grammar, vocabulary.
  • Prior experience in NGO work, especially with children, a strong asset. Child protection attitude a requirement.
  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.

Main tasks

Coordination and monitoring of external communications activities, including among others:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational and project communication strategies.
  • Ensure that visibility requirements of Tdh and donors are respected.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development and production of publications, visual resources (photos, videos), newsletters etc.
  • Manage and regularly update websites and social media accounts.
  • Proofread and edit reports, publications, text.
  • Write news, press releases, and human interest stories.
  • Support the teams in project communication and advocacy.
  • Develop a network of media contacts and manage the dissemination of communication materials.
  • Coordinate visibility and raising awareness events.
  • Contribute to the presentation of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Assist in developing project proposals and project reports.
