High level government representation at the launching of the regional report

Prishtina, Kosovo: On the 22nd of February, PVPT and Terre des hommes co-organized a press conference to launch the regional report on the implementation of UNICEF guidelines. 35 persons, among which high-level government officials from the secretariat on anti trafficking of Ministry of Interior, officials from the Prime Minister Office, Gender and Equal Opportunities department, officials from Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Education, participated to the press conference.

From international organizations, UNDP, IOM, Save the Children and UNICEF were also represented together with daily newspaper such as Kosovar Sot or Express. Consequently to the high level of representation, the findings of the report were highly debated among representatives of ministries and civil society actors.

The representative of the Secretariat for combating trafficking in Human Beings stated that the report will be taken into consideration in the planning of future steps that will be undertaken by the government to improve the protection of child victims of trafficking. Artur Marku, Delegate of Terre des hommes in Kosovo emphasized the need to reinforce cooperation among stakeholders involved in the protection of child victims at the local level, such as an increased coordination between anti trafficking police ad community police
