Half-Way Home: Research on the reintegration of children returned from EU countries

The newest publication of Tdh is a result of an 18-month follow-up with 120 children in 6 South-East European countries, who were returned from EU countries. Social workers in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia were visiting children every month, documenting their reintegration – while also providing the necessary assistance to improve their well-being, including facilitating access to medical care, to obtain their official documentation, improve their language skills or enroll in education. The research was analysing the case files and drew conclusions on factors that hinder – as well as factors that support the reintegration of returned children.
