Terre des hommes is seeking an innovative Business Designer who has experience in taking digital platforms to scale.

The Child Protection Hub is a regional project running in 8 countries of South East Europe (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, Serbia), and aims to develop a network of professionals in child protection as well as provide them opportunities for professional development and regional exchanges. It has developed e-courses for child protection professionals, and is offering webinars and other opportunities for learning and dialogue. The project has been running since 2014 and now is in its second phase, running until May 2021.

You will develop customer segments and design product and service offerings and a revenue model that will ensure the financial sustainability of the platform after the donor funding ends (beyond May 2021).

Who you are:

  • A minimum of 3 years of industry experience in one of these areas: Product Management, Finance, Management Consulting, Corporate Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Operations, or Corporate Innovation;
  • MBA or equivalent work experience;
  • Entrepreneurial thinker with knowledge of the latest trends and business models in tech;
  • Knowledge of design thinking and innovation methodologies;
  • Experience scaling with digital products;
  • Proficiency in English, knowledge of one of the regional languages (i.e. Albanian, Bulgarian, Serbian, or Romanian) is a distinct advantage;
  • Acquintance with the non-profit world is an advantage;
  • Ability to provide an invoice.

The Task:

Design a business model that includes customer segments, a go to market strategy for new regions and segments and links the online and offline activities of the platform into a cohesive revenue model.

Activities include:

  • Desk review of project documentation, reports, statistics, budgets;
  • Review of the website and analogous sites;
  • Conducting interviews at distance with project coordinators (based in Budapest) and country coordinators (based in 8 countries of South East Europe);
  • Regional meeting of stakeholders (16 people) TBC in Budapest;
  • Developing business models for testing.


  • Set of up to 4 prototypes and testing plans for different strategies;
  • Final business plan including: gap analysis, customer segments, product / service offering, go to market strategy, financial model, projections and fundraising opportunities.

The project also foresees the availability of seed funding (up to 32,000 euros possibly for 4 different projects) in order to prototype approaches proposed by the business plan.

The estimated effort is up to 25 days of work.

  • Prototypes ready for piloting by October 2019
  • Completion of the business plan by November 31st 2019.
