You are an expert in Horizon 2020 budget lines or an aspiring expert. You are energetic, a team player, meticulous and organised. You are available for 20 days between December and the beginning of March 2020. This is for you. 

Start date: Immediately (with short deadline to apply)

Duration: approximately 20 working days

Contract: Service contract at fixed (daily) rate. With a duly registered individual or company.

Fees: Most competitive bid, with a maximum total budget of EUR 7000.- all taxes included

Location: Budapest or anywhere in Europe (homeworking possible).

Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss child relief agency. Founded in 1960, we are committed to improving the lives of millions of the world's most vulnerable children. The Children and Youth in Migration Programme (CYiM) of Terre des hommes (Tdh) in Europe is strongly committed to advancing the rights of children and youth affected by migration through several approaches: reinforcing formal/informal child protection systems, direct support to boys and girls, enhancing community protection initiatives, youth empowerment and evidence-based advocacy. As part of its long-term strategy, the CYiM programme is advocating for policies which protect the rights of children and youth on the move and ensure a continuum of care along their migration journey, including in the host country.

Working under the supervision of the Regional CYiM Programme Manager and the Regional Resource Mobilisation Manager, the Expert will develop a full grant proposal strictly respecting all guidelines posted on: Click LINK

Title of the Call: Narratives on migration and its impact: past and present

The overall objective of the consultancy contract is to submit a winning proposal.

Key Duties:

  • To undertake, in collaboration with Tdh staff, a brief background analysis/context mapping of the dynamic between migration narratives and policy development in the EU.
  • In consultation with the Regional CYiM Programme Manager and Regional Resource Mobilisation Manager, as well as focal point of other organisations in the consortium, develop a Concept Note with a Research Question suitable to be developed in a project proposal in response to the abovementioned call.
  • Develop a full narrative proposal according to the requirements of the EC for this call, on the forms provided and in line with all rules and guides of the European Commission, as well as those of Tdh. Submit this document to Tdh in a final format for being included in the final application package.
  • Together with the Tdh-appointed financial focal point, support in developing the budget for the activities and plans mentioned in the narrative;
  • Maintain availability to change/supplement information up to the moment when the application is submitted (no later than 12 March 2020).
  • Participate in a debriefing session ("retrospective") (2 hour long, date to be determined) organized by Tdh after the application is submitted to reflect on the process and determine best practices and lessons learned.


  • Track record of previous successful grant applications (provide list);
  • Good knowledge of the H2020 RIA funding programme and the application procedure attached to it;
  • Strong understanding of the migration context in Europe, good knowledge of the debates around migration policy in the EU;
  • Excellent drafting skills in English;
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and at distance; high collaborative spirit;
  • At ease working on tight deadlines and “walking the extra miles”;
  • Analytical mind, capacity to synthesize information, critical thinking.
