This paper builds on the analyses undertaken in the framework of the Mario project, and is based on 5 transnational research reports carried out in 2015. It zooms out to put the views of children, family members and front line professionals in a wider European perspective, reflecting on their rights in an area of facilitated movement.

January 20 – 21, 2015 Pristina Kosovo: Child protection professionals from Albania visited Pristina and met their counterparts in Kosovo for two days under the Mario II project implemented by Terre des hommes and Save the Children. The main goal of the visit was to discuss on the situation of Albanian children on the move in Kosovo and on the response of the social services system to their protection needs.

Police Academy introduces child protection specific module into its curricula

March, 2014, Chisinau, Moldova: Beginning with the winter semester 2013/2014, the students of the “Stefan cel Mare” Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova learn about the protection of children's rights. The “Legal Protection of Children’s Rights” Module is an innovation for the Police Academy and is taught in the framework of the “Legal Protection of Human Rights” Course. It is estimated that yearly a minimum of 600 students will attend the course.

Research on Children on the Move presented for the first time

February 12, 2014, Budapest Hungary: the Regional Office of Tdh has presented the findings of its latest research, on the ability of the Hungarian child protection system to provide adequate protection for children on the move in a seminar with government and NGO stakeholders. This is the first time any research in Hungary has looked at children on the move, encompassing different categories of children.
