August 6-8, 2013, Chisinau, Moldova: Educational Directors of 18 schools from the Falesti district attended a training to be able to help their teachers hold psycho-social activities with parents to empower them with positive parenting skills.

Sergeevka, Ukraine, June 13, 2013: As part of the “Building a common approach to children” project, Tdh Moldova provided a training for 33 teachers from Falesti district and Transnistrian region. The professionals from both banks of Nistru River had the opportunity to interact on a neutral territory (Ukraine) for 3 days. The joint learning and exchange aimed to improve the abilities of the participants to prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation of children more effectively.

May 20, 2013, Chisinau, Moldova: The Inspectorate-General of Police of Moldova (IGP) and Terre des hommes have signed a Cooperation Agreement that aims to strengthen the common efforts to promote and protect children's rights in Moldova. At the signing event, both Mr. Ion Bodrug – Chief of IGP, and Ms. Iveta Bartunkova – Tdh Delegate in Moldova, expressed their hope for a long-term cooperation and genuine willingness to increase the level of safety and protection of children.

May 14, 2013, Tirana Albania: After years of lobbying of NGO partners and based on the Law of 2010 on the Protection of Children’s Rights, the Municipality of Tirana has finally approved the allocation of 4 million ALL (28.000 Eur) through a Decision of the Municipal Council for the recruitment of 11 social workers to identify and manage cases of children at risk or victims of abuse in each district of the capital.

October 11, 2012, Chisinau, Moldova: The official opening of the Game Library at the Social Services Centre for Children and Family “Aschiuta” took place in a very child-friendly environment, the VIP guests being the current residents (children) of the home.

Prishtina, Kosovo, October 17, 2012: 55 professionals from all operating Task Forces have met for a one-day workshop to improve the quality of case management and to learn from existing best practices. The workshop was organised by Tdh Delegation in Kosovo as part of its Child Protection Safety Net (CPSN) project.

June 4-8, 2012, Chisinau, Moldova: Learning how to relate to children that are at risk of being neglected, abused, exploited or trafficked and learning how to approach each particular child's case was the topic of a training offered to the community social assistants from two regions of Moldova.

19 April, 2012, Tirana, Albania: In collaboration and with financial support from Mario project partners in Albania, Terre des hommes (Tdh) and Save the Children, the Albania State Agency for the Protection of Children’s Rights at the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities (MoLSAEO) organized a national conference with an aim to promote the role and emphasize the responsibility that local government units have in building an effective child protection system in the country, with preventative and responsive mechanisms to all forms of violence against children. In Albania, local governments are responsible for local arrangements for protecting children and young people. They have decision-making power to set up structures and mechanisms, as well as to allocate budgets. Their responsibilities and obligations extend towards securing local prevention, integration, rehabilitation and protection measures for children.

Chisinau, Moldova, December 1st, 2011: It is a long tradition in Moldova for form teachers to meet with parents regularly. Unfortunately the meetings are often characterized by requests for additional funds or a formal discussion about the children’s performance which is rather a turn-off for most parents. Terre des hommes wanted to help schools change these meetings in order to develop positive relationships between the school and parents as an important part of each child’s education.

November 18, 2011, Tirana, Albania: A total of 15 directors, caregivers, educators, social workers and psychologists currently employed in the four Residential Institutions with which Terre des hommes collaborates, Tirana, Vlora, Durres and Saranda, gathered to participate in psychosocial games, learn new activities to organize with children and share to date experiences of organizing MGS psychosocial games with children living in residential institutions.
